History and Background, Stash Hockey has been years in the making and has a background which draws on a wide range of clothing and textile experience. Back in 1983, Stash Hockey Director Kevin Heath, followed family traditions of working in the Textile industry in Macclesfield. Kevin started his working career for local Sportswear manufacturer Umbro. Umbro at the time was going through a huge change in its business when it secured huge sportswear contracts with leading football sides like– Liverpool, Manchester United, Celtic and Rangers and a host of other clubs and alongside this we also secured international sides England and Scotland. A personal highlight was meeting the legendry England Manager Sir Bobby Robson when he visited the Macclesfield design centre to give approval to the new kit for the 1986 Mexico world cup. Being part of the team that pulled together the collections for sports sides, teams and clubs across the world was an amazing experience.

Following years were spent working in various garment manufacturing business in the UK where Kevin learnt and a wide range of skills in developing supply chain solutions for leading High Street stores, companies like Marks and Spencer, Debenhams, BHS, Tesco, Littlewoods, Next and countless others. Working for companies in many textile sectors allowed Kevin to experience a wide range of environments. As well as garment making Kevin has been heavily involved in the fabric manufacturing side of textiles. Developing fabrics in a wide range of area’s including high performance Sportswear knitted fabrics to the development of cutting edge technical woven fabrics supplying and working with a wide range of end users from Ambulance crews, Oil Workers, Firemen, Nurses, Surgeons and lots of other demanding professions where performance and quality go hand in hand.

So the Textile industry has always been part of our upbringing and background but while all this has been going on, Hockey has been an ever present. Whether that’s playing or coaching, Hockey has always been part of the family make up. Bringing all these elements together ensures that Stash Hockey has the passion, experience and knowledge to supply you with the kit you need to play and train.
